Booking and policies FAQ

How do I book a rental?
To reserve a rental boat, kayak, or paddle board, please contact Shuswap Marina directly by phone, email, or through our website.

Do you offer multi-day rentals?
Yes. We offer daily and multi-day rentals so you can fully enjoy your Shuswap Lake vacation experience.

Can I change my reservation after booking?
Yes. If we have availability, we will do our best to help rearrange your booking dates.

What happens if we arrive late for our booking?
If you arrive late for your booking, you are still responsible for the full rental amount for the reserved day.

How old do you have to be to rent a boat?
You must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license.

Do I need a boating license to rent a boat?
No. If you are over 21 years old, we can help qualified renters obtain a temporary boating license after completing our mandatory safety and operational orientation. Temporary licenses are issued in accordance with Transport Canada regulations for rental boat operators.

Is there a damage deposit required?
Yes. A $2,500 damage deposit per boat is required by credit card before taking the boat. This is processed as a pre-authorization.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, e-transfer, debit, Visa, and MasterCard. We do not accept American Express.

When is payment due?
Payment is due at the time you pick up your rental boat at the marina.

Can multiple people split the payment?
Yes. Multiple people may split the payment. We can also accept combinations such as part cash and part debit or credit card.

What is your cancellation policy?
You are eligible for a full refund if you notify us at least 21 days prior to your booking date.
If weather conditions are considered unsafe, our marina staff may cancel the rental for safety reasons. If this happens, we will contact you as soon as possible and do our best to help rebook your rental, depending on availability.
For safety reasons, we reserve the right to cancel any boat rental if unsafe lake or weather conditions are present.

Is fuel included?
Fuel is not included in the rental pricing. Boats are provided with fuel, and customers are responsible for fuel used during the rental period.

Can we bring pets on the boat?
Yes. We are pet-friendly, and well-behaved pets are welcome on many of our rental boats. A non-refundable pet fee of $50 per boat applies.

Do children count toward the passenger limit?
Yes. Children count toward the maximum passenger capacity of the boat.

I know you said we can only have 12 people on our boat, but three of our passengers are little kids. Do they count?
Yes. Children and infants still count as passengers under Transport Canada capacity regulations.
